GIA held their annual summer outing today... first, they rented the majority of the "Park at the Park" at Petco Park (San Diego Padres ballpark). Then, they set up about ten buffet tables with hot dogs, chicken breast sandwiches, salsa, chips, pasta salad, condiments, and cookies, along with a dozen or so massive coolers of water, diet soda, sprite, and orange soda, and eight tables piled high with bags of pretzels, potato chips, and roasted peanuts. Oh, and I shouldn't forget the bars- two setups with Bud and Bud light on draft, along with eight or ten wines to choose from, and each of us had two free drink tickets.

Then they went out and bought 40 or 50 $25 and $50 gift cards to various places, several autographed baseballs, a couple sets of amazing seats for future games, and a camera or two, then raffled them off (1 raffle ticket per employee). I won a $25 gift card to Best Buy- wee!

To top it all off, they got all of us (~1200 people total) seats at the game (nosebleed section, but *great* view!), and gave each of us $5 in Padres money to spend on snacks, drinks, trinkets, or whatever.

I took my dad, who had a blast- he might love the company more than I do... and he had a ball meeting people from the lab and a bunch of my friends, and it was all good.

I like GIA. It's a good place to work.
